This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories!

was curious. I now wish that I had taken more notice and enquired a bit more!
I've tried to track down the person that told me, but as I can't remember his name,
this is rather difficult. I do remember whose house I was in when I was told, but
I do remember he was visiting them from by memory - Auckland. I've contacted the
house owner and he can't think of who it would be. Anyway, if I can locate the exact
spot, there may still be a few bolts, etc, still buried there that we may pick up
with a metal detector that would indicate that the object was in fact a plane...
Whether this memory was of this aeroplane, or another, is not possible to determine
unless I knew the year that I heard of it. If I heard it before 1982 then it could
not possibly be ZK-WAC, but if I heard of it before 1988 (when the photo was taken),
then it is unlikely to be unless it was then in the process of being unassembled.
I vaguely remember that it had a Lycoming motor in it and the intention was to use
this motor to repower something else (?)
If anyone reading this article, can further any information on this possibility,
please let me know.
There was another possibility in that I found there was a Grumman American AA-1C
(ZK-EPI) that crashed in the Hunuas one week before the photo was taken, but after
a little help from friends in CAA, we found this was in another area.
